Delores Thornton

Services for Delores Thornton, 93, of Palestine were at 10 a.m. today at Friendship Baptist Church with the Rev. Lynn Stroud officiating. Burial followed in Liberty Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Bailey & Foster.

Mrs. Thornton died Sunday at Hospice Home Place in Tyler.

She was born June 15, 1919 in Biggar, Saskatchewan, Canada to Ralph E. and Anna Williams Oliver.

Mrs. Thornton was retired and had worked for the Social Security Administration. She was a longtime member of the Friendship Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, A.M. Thornton, in 1979; two sisters, Helen Tootel and Coral Kolberg; and a brother, Everett Oliver.

Mrs. Thornton is survived by her daughter, Carol Thornton of Maryland; son, Wayne Thornton and wife Marion of Palestine; sister, Maxine Richards of California; seven grandchildren, Leanne Raper, David Thornton, Deanna Thornton, Tyler Thornton, Lisa Nesbitt, Otis Shaver and Tim Shaver; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Jerry Vaughn, Tyler Thornton, John Mott, Charles Jenkins, Randy Jenkins and Gene Titlow. Honorary pallbearers were Jack Thornton, A.D. Lightfoot and W.E. Thornton.
