Gwendolyn Faye Hollie

PALESTINE — Gwendolyn Faye Hollie went home to be with the Lord on Oct. 2, 2012. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Truevine Missionary Baptist Church, 27307 Oak St., Spring, Texas.

Mrs. Hollie was born June 12, 1953 to Jimmy and Jessie Morgan Sr. in Fort Worth. She was raised in Palestine and attended Palestine High School where she fell deeply in love with her middle school sweetheart, Amos Laurel Hollie III. Together they began their studies at Prairie View University.

On Jan. 7, 1972, Amos and Gwendolyn were united in holy matrimony and vowed to remain wholly committed through good and bad, sickness and health, until death did them part. To this union was born three children: Amos IV, Lydia and Ami.

Gwendolyn was baptized, demonstrating her pre-existing faith, in 1977 at St. Matthews Baptist Church in Tyler. Since 1982 she has faithfully served on the usher and deaconess board at Truevine Missionary Baptist Church until her health prevented service.

Gwendolyn was a dedicated wife, loving mother, and true friend sharing with each person that she knew her love for the Lord and her commitment to His will and plan.

She was preceded in death by her father, Jimmy Sr.

She leaves to cherish her memory a devoted husband of over 40 years, Amos L. Hollie III; a son, Amos IV (Kanada) of Porter, Texas; two daughters, Lydia (Kevin) of Houston, and Ami Baines of Spring; her mother, Jessie Heagenes; sister, Brenda Zeller; brother, Jimmy Jr.; 12 grandchildren (Amos) Amos V, Taylor, Ajonea and KriShawna, (Lydia) Gerame, Shayla, Erica, Lauren, and Lenoxx, (Ami) Jovaun, Andrew and DeAdrick; two great-grand children, (Amos) Adrina, (Lydia) Erial; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, in-laws, family and friends.
