Mollie Louise Jones

PALESTINE — Services for Mollie Louise Jones, 89, of Grapeland will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church, Grapeland with the Rev. Bill Denham and the Rev. Chuck Bratz officiating. Burial will follow in Grapeland City Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster.

Mrs. Jones passed away Thursday, Sept. 20, 2012, at Winfield Care Center in Crockett.

She was born Feb. 25, 1923 in Keefer, Okla., to Richard and Ruth Slayton Willbourn.

Mrs. Jones was the bookkeeper for Troy F. Jones Construction for 30-plus years, working side by side with her husband to build the business. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Grapeland until the past few years. She was active in spirit but unable to attend physically. She was on the building committee for the new church, a member of the Guild and Love Circle. She taught Sunday school and was the MYF leader when her children were young. Mrs. Jones also was a member of the Grapeland Augusta Order of the Eastern Star for 65 years, serving as Worthy Matron two times and holding numerous other chapter offices.

 She was a member of the committee that started Brownies and Girl Scouts when her children were little and served as Girl Scout leader. Mrs. Jones was a charter member of the Ladies VFW Auxiliary in Grapeland. It was the largest chapter in Texas at one time. She was a past president and held several offices both local and in the district. She also worked with the PTA and held several offices in that group and served as president of the Grapeland Band Boosters Club, she was also a member of the Grapeland Garden Club and served as club president twice.

Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Troy F. Jones; son, Troy F. Jones Jr.; brother and two sisters.

She is survived by two daughters, Linda Faye Skidmore and husband Stanley, and Martha Childress and husband Ben all of Grapeland; grandchildren, Marsha Cook and husband Ronald, Sherri Kendrick, Judith Currie and husband Russell, Bryan Childress and wife Sherry and Laura Chabarria and husband Albert; great-grandchildren, Megan Kendrick, Halea Kendrick, Steven Troy Chabarria, David Chabarria, Laura Ashley Childress, Christopher Childress, Andrew Childress, Cadie Belle Currie, Jett Currie, and Stephanie Currie; one great great grandchild, Aiden, Owens.

Pallbearers will be Steven Troy Chabarria, David Chabarria, Christopher Childress, David Bridges, Ricky Bridges, and Henry Riley. Honorary pallbearers will be Andrew Childress, Aiden Owens and Jett Currie.

Condolence calls will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Bailey & Foster Chapel, Grapeland.
