Services for Eva Orell Fitzgerald, 96, of Elkhart, were at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church of Elkhart with the Rev. Jeff Craft and the Rev. Lynn Wilhite officiating. Burial will follow at Crawford Cemetery under the direction of O.T. Allen and Son Funeral Directors.
Mrs. Fitzgerald died Saturday in Palestine.
She was born March 3, 1916, in Slocum. She had a BA from Sam Houston State College and a MA from Stephen F. Austin College.
She taught elementary school in Elkhart and Houston for 37 years. In Houston she was recognized as an exemplary teacher. She also co-owned and operated a cattle farm with her sons near Elkhart, where she lived for 47 years. She was a member and practicing Christian at the Elkhart First United Methodist Church.
Memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church in Elkhart.
