Jimmie Wayne French

Graveside services for Jimmie Wayne French, 82, of Palestine, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Land of Memory Cemetery with Paul Jones officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster.

Mr. French died Monday at his residence.

He was born Feb. 1, 1931 in Salado to John Loy and Minnie Thompson French.

Mr. French was retired from Ector County Independent School District where he was a teacher, a state champion track and football coach and worked in administration. He served in the U.S. Marines during the Korean War. He was a member of the Abilene Christian University undefeated national champion football team, and a graduate of ACU in 1955.

Mr. French was a member of the Court Drive Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his parents, six sisters and one brother.

Mr. French is survived by his wife, Kay French; sons, Jim French and wife Judy of Elkhart, Dr. Dean French and wife Cammie of Palestine, Jeff French of Phoenix, Ariz.; a brother Brit French of Midlothian; grandchildren, Brooke Johnson, Heather Walding, Levi French, Chloe, Lexi, Jeb, and Cass French and Justin and Jadyn French.

Condolence calls will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Bailey & Foster Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Court Drive Church of Christ Food Bank or to the Mission Fund.
