Marie Moore

Marie Shelton Moore, 94, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Jan. 31, 2013 at Dogwood Trails Assisted Living Center in Palestine. Graveside services will be held at Memphis Memorial Park in Memphis, Tenn. on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013 at 11 a.m. Services are under the direction of Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home.

Mrs. Moore was born on April 7, 1918 in Mercer, Tenn. to J.C. Shelton and Effie Gordon Shelton.

She was a longtime resident of Memphis where she was a member of the Highland Heights United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Moore loved to cook and garden and also owned a beauty shop in Memphis for several years. It was there that she met her husband of 58 years, Melvin.

Mrs. Moore was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Melvin in 2001; and brother-in-law, Doug Moore, in 2013.

She is survived by daughter, Patricia Jarrett of Palestine; granddaughter, Jennifer Jarrett of St. Louis, Mo.; sisters-in-law, Wanda Moore of Palestine and Althea Calcote and husband Howard of Palestine; loving nieces and nephews; and the angels from B&B Caretakers, Marlyn Barnett, RaeNita Donnell, Dottie Adams, Ditasha Calhoun, Vickie McKracan and Mae Smith.

Also a special thanks to Dogwood Assisted Living Center and Star Care for all the special care given to Mrs. Moore.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013 at the Herrington/Land of Memory Chapel.
