“Coach” Beverly Ann Walling Troutman was called home to heaven on Friday, March 1, 2013. Beverly, or Coach Troutman as she was known to many, was born to Cliff Alton and Bobbie Denman Walling on July 12, 1946. She married Harold Troutman on Dec. 27, 1980 in Rockwall, Texas. Together they returned to Elkhart in 1983, to raise their only child, Tyler, and she and Harold joined the staff of Elkhart Independent School District, where they both served as teacher and coach. Beverly, herself an avid tennis player, was the tennis coach and her teams won numerous district championships in both boys and girls divisions, some even playing at the state level. In 2004 she was awarded “Coach of the Year” by her peers in the Texas Tennis Association. After 24 years of faithful service to their school and community, Beverly and Harold retired in 2007 and moved to Lumberton, Texas in 2009 to be close to their son, Tyler along with his wife Hayley and their children.

Beverly was preceded in death by her father, Cliff A. Walling; and grandparents, Jess and Luna Brimberry Denman.

She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Harold Troutman of Lumberton; son, Tyler Troutman and wife Hayley; grandchildren, Ava Reese and Brody Pate Troutman, all of Lumberton; mother, Bobbie Denman Walling of Elkhart; brothers, John Walling and wife Leisa of Elkhart, and David Walling and wife Patti of Palestine; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunt, uncles and cousins.

Services will be held Sunday, March 3, 2013 at 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church Elkhart, with the Rev. Bill Gernenz and Johnnie Keeling officiating. Burial will follow in Pilgrim Cemetery in Elkhart.

Condolence calls will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Saturday, March 2, 2013, at Bailey & Foster Funeral Home in Palestine.

Pallbearers will be John L. Adair, Stewart Smith, Jason Ives, Mike Cline, Dan Wilson and Michael Denman.  

In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions be made to the Coach Beverly Troutman Memorial Scholarship Fund at Elkhart State Bank, P.O. Box 427, Elkhart, Texas 75839.
