Funeral services for John David Owens, 68, of Whitehouse, Texas and formerly of north Hollywood Beach, Fla., were at 3 p.m. today at Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home Chapel with Monsignor Zacharias Kunnakkattutharaofficiating. Military graveside services followed at Cedar Creek Cemetery with Chaplain Don McWhinney officiating.
Mr. Owens died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, at his residence.
He was born Oct. 9, 1944, in Chicago, Ill. to Francis J. and Corrine Marzano Owens.
Mr. Owens served in the U.S. Air Force from 1968 to 1972. He was retired from Texas Department of Criminal Justice and also a retired hotel manager.
He is survived by his two daughters, Corrine Hughes and husband Dennis and Laura Howell and husband Mike; one son, John Owens and wife Ginny; grandchildren, Kacey, Elizabeth, Ashton, Alyssa, Emily, Blake, Max, and Olivia; great-grandchildren, Trevor and Sarah; and numerous cousins.
Condolence calls were received from 2 to 3 p.m. today at Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home prior to the funeral service.
