Harold Fitzgerald

Funeral services for Harold Wayne Fitzgerald, 65, of Palestine, will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2013, at Herrington/Land of Memory Chapel with Dan Manuel and Jimmy Guthrie officiating.  Burial will follow at Land of Memory Cemetery.

Mr. Fitzgerald passed away on March 13, 2013, at Hospice of East Texas in Tyler.

He was born on Nov. 14, 1947, in Palestine to Jesse Gregg Fitzgerald and Lena Patterson Fitzgerald.  

Mr. Fitzgerald served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.  He was a retired Major with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice after 30 years of service. He loved to hunt and fish and work in his garden and enjoyed spending time with his grandkids.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Marsha Fitzgerald; and a grandson, Korbyn Gonzales.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Vickie Fitzgerald; son, Michael Fitzgerald; two daughters, Mary Sloan and husband Bruce and Michelle Williams and husband Jamey, all of Palestine; sister, Virginia Fitzgerald of Montalba; five grandchildren, Jessica Williams, Tyler Williams, Brendan Baker, Gabriel Sloan, and Savanna Rash; two nephews, Larry Linson and Alan Linson; and a niece, Lee Ann Slosser.  

Pallbearers will be Jamey Williams, Tyler Williams, Bruce Sloan, Danny Young, Asa Linson and Gary Vicars.

Condolence calls will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 15, 2013, at Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home.
