PALESTINE —
Graveside services for Orrin Shaid Sr., 95, of Palestine, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Chapel of the Air at Land of Memory Cemetery with the Rev. Jason Driskell officiating. Services are under the direction of Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home.
Mr. Shaid died Thursday at Cartmell Home for Aged.
He was born on Sept. 17, 1917, in Palestine, to Hiram and Helena Carpenter Shaid.
Mr. Shaid was a resident of Palestine for many years. He was first employed with his sister and brother-in-law at Fotopulos Shoe Shop, then with Railway Express, the Missouri Pacific Railroad, and later retired from Kelly Springfield Tire Company in Tyler. He was a Mason.
Mr. Shaid was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 75 years, Ruby Shaid; brothers, Alva Shaid and wife Nell, Williard Shaid and wife Georgia, and Virgil Shaid and wife Ella; and sisters, Zula Gage and husband George, Lura Reidel and husband Walter, Beulah Fotopulos and husband Harry, and Myrtle Hassell and husband Harrell.
He is survived by son, Orrin Shaid Jr.; daughter Annette Shaid Dennis; granddaughter, K.K. Carrion; two grandsons, Orrin Shaid III (Trey) and wife Heather, and Baron Maree and wife Andrea; great-grandchildren, Hannah Carrion-Moline and husband David, David Alexander Carrion, and Brice Orrin Shaid.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday at Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home.
