Carol M. Christie

Feb. 13, 1940 - Jan. 13, 2013

Carol Ann Christie, 72, of Palestine and formerly of Houston, died Jan. 13, 2013, at Trinity Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler, Texas.  A gathering and memorial celebration of her life will be held for family and friends of the family from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18, at the family residence in Palestine. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 19, at Oakwood Cemetery in Waco, Texas, with the Rev. Jordan Byrd of the First Christian Church of Palestine officiating. Funeral arrangements are in the care of Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey in Waco.

Mrs. Christie was born on Feb. 13, 1940, in Austin, Texas to the late Travis Mundell and Eileen Cassie (Snider) Mundell.

Her formative years were spent in Lindsay, Okla., and Houston.  She attended Texas Women’s University in Denton, Texas. On Sept. 3, 1960, she was joined in marriage with William Edmond Christie in Dallas.

Carol will be remembered for her sweet and gentle nature, her thoughtfulness towards others, her talents as a cook and her gift for gracious entertaining. Carol (or CiCi as she chose for her grandmother name) was a devoted mother, grandmother, loving and cherished wife.

Carol is survived by her husband of 52 years, Ed Christie; her son, Will Christie of Houston; her daughter and son-in-law, Dr. Relvert and Mary Anna Coe of Palestine; three grandchildren, twins, Madeleine Penland Coe and Sophie Christie Coe and Nicholas Edmond Coe; her brother-in-law, James Harvey Christie of Palestine; and brothers-and sisters-in-law, Alonzo Bee and Marie Louise Christie of Dallas, and George Penland and Ellen Christie of Galveston.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials be given to Susan G. Komen for the Cure (www.komen.org) to honor her as a 30-year survivor of breast cancer. The family invites you to leave a message or memory in our “Memorial Guestbook” at www.WilkirsonHatchBailey.com.
