Carroll Alfred Pouncey

Memorial services for Carroll Alfred Pouncey, 92, of Palestine will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Bailey & Foster Chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster, Palestine.

Mr. Pouncey died Thursday at Turecare Living Center.

He was born Nov. 28, 1920 in Fisher, La. to Eugene Joseph and Sarah Goldie Clark Pouncey.  

Mr. Pouncey was a retired radio operator from the Merchant Marines. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. He was the printer, pressman, editor and publisher of a country newspaper in Louisiana, New Mexico, and Texas.

Mr. Pouncey also was the writer and producer for KLIS Radio station. He also served as director of the Chamber of Commerce in Palestine.

Mr. Pouncey was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Virginia Pouncey in November;  daughter, Carolyn Pouncey Maxwell; sister, Mildred Pouncey; and brothers, E.J. Pouncey Jr. and Clark Pouncey.

He is survived by his daughters, “Lou” Cauthron and husband Terry of Palestine, and Melanie Pouncey of Waco; son-in-law and daughter-in-law, Ron and Karen Maxwell; three grandchildren, Stuart Cauthron, Sherri Cauthron Smith and Bayne Cauthron.
