Services for Carl David Jones, 62, of Palestine, will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 4, 2013 at the Herrington/Land of Memory Chapel with the Rev. Charles McNeal officiating. Burial will follow at Fort Houston Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home.
Mr. Jones passed away on Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013 at his home in Palestine.
He was born on April 20, 1950 in Palestine, to Clarence Jones and Eunice Belcher Jones.
Mr. Jones lived his entire life in Anderson County where he was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He was retired from the Union Pacific Railroad and enjoyed competing in mud racing and watching drag racing. He also loved to fish and play dominos.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bill Jones; and sisters, Wanda Hope and Darlene Kellogg.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Debbie Jones; son, John Jones and wife Kim of the Woodlands; brothers, Bob Jones and wife Jane of Grapeland, Jake Jones and wife JoAnn of Palestine, and Max Draper and wife Sharon of Minnesota; sister, Jan Flemming and husband Steve of Diana; and one granddaughter, Kimberly Jones of Tomball.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Huddleston, Plez Cook, Charlie Starr, Gary Chambless, Jack Reinhardt and Glenn Hope.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013 at Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home.
