Fred Ernest Wacha Sr.

Funeral services for Fred Ernest Wacha Sr., 90, of Palestine, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Msgnr Zach officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster, Palestine.

Mr. Wacha went to be with the Lord Wednesday at his home.  

He was born Dec. 1, 1922 in Palestine, Texas to John Joseph Wacha and Ludmila Batik Wacha. He owned and operator Wacha Tailor Shop for 73 years. He was a quiet gentle man who was kind to everyone.

He was preceded in death by parents, John Joseph and Ludmila Wacha; sisters, Helen and Ludmila; brothers John, William, Otto, Freddie and Emil.  

Mr. Wacha is survived by his wife, Marilyn Gardner Wacha of Palestine; daughter, Diana McCann and husband Steve of Dallas; stepdaughters, Julie Raines and husband David of Stonewall, La., and Laura Ferguson of Tyler; sons, Earnest Wacha and wife Janean and Steve Wacha and wife Debbie, all of Palestine; stepson, Douglas Ferguson and wife Dustin of Frierson, La.; sister, Marie Parsons and twin brother, Frank, both of Palestine; 12 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be George Lee Wacha, D. Ray Wilson, Troy Wacha, Juan Perez and Larry Parsons.

Condolence calls will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Bailey & Foster Chapel in Palestine, with a Rosary beginning at 6:30 p.m.
