John Wayne Roscoe

Memorial services for John Wayne Roscoe, 63, of Palestine, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bailey & Foster Chapel with the Rev. Barney Walker officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster.

John Wayne Roscoe, 63, passed away on Dec. 21, 2012 from complications of COPD and emphysema at the ICU of Medical City Hospital in Dallas.

He was born Nov. 6, 1949 in Dallas to Clyde D. and Norma Callaway Roscoe. John was an avid fisherman, loved baseball and was a loving family man. John Roscoe graduated from Elkhart High School in 1967 before joining the Army and serving in Vietnam war.

Mr. Roscoe was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Ronnie Roscoe.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Susie Fuller Roscoe of Palestine; two sons, Corporal Coby Roscoe of Cherry Point, N.C. and Richard Roscoe of Pine Bluff, Ark.; three daughters, Robyn Roscoe of Dallas, Kim Pierce of Elkhart and Tammy Eschelle of Houston; stepchildren, Amanda Beth Rutledge of Elkhart, Richard Rutledge of Elkhart and Katheryn Rutledge of Plano; five sisters, Tennie Johnson of Dallas, Darnell Grimsley of Palestine, Jo Nell Montgomery of Bakersfield, Calif., Rhonda Thomas of Palestine and Cherrie Roscoe of Slocum.

Many thanks to the ICU staff of nurses at Medical City Hospital in Dallas for the respect and care given to John during his last days. Special love to his longtime doctor, Matt Sloan of Dallas for always being there.

Honorary pallbearers will be close friends, Ricky Henderson, Brian Armitage, Dan Williams, Russell Lindeman, Maylon Smith and Richard Rutledge.
