Cayuga's Mack has double-double in win (Tuesday Basketball Roundup)

TRINIDAD — Lexus Mack had a double-double in points and steals to lead the Cayuga Ladycats to a 64-26 win over Trinidad Tuesday night.
Cayuga (5-2) stormed out to a 16-8 first quarter lead and then took a 42-10 halftime lead b holding Trinidad to only two points in the second quarter.
Mack scored 24 points and had 11 steals for her double-double. She also added four assists and five rebounds.
Chelsea Brown made a trio of three pointers as she had 19 points.
Shawnta Knox scored six points, Taylor Wagner and Molly Griffey each had four points, Shelby Henry, Falesha Richardson and Meagan Poland each had two points and Chantel Walker had one point.
Cayuga travels to Trinity Friday.
Neches 80, Leggett 47
NECHES — The Neches Lady Tigers had four players in double-digit scoring in a 80-47 win over Leggett Tuesday night.
Neches (9-1) held Leggett to five points in the first quarter as the Lady Tigers took a 19-5 lead.
Kelcie Kinder led the way with 19 points, Roddricka Patton and Raven McFarland each had 15 points and Kristen Green scored 11 points.
Cheyenne Haskins scored eight points and Diana Patton, Kendra Taylor and LaToya Barrett each had four points.
Neches hosts Lovelady on Tuesday.
BOYS
Elkhart 65, Groveton 36
GROVETON — Elkhart’s Lane Grant had a double-double to lead the Elks to a 65-36 win over Groveton Tuesday night.
Elkhart (4-2) held Groveton to 16 points in the first half to take a 21-point halftime lead.
Grant led the way with a team-high 16 points and 13 rebounds. Eric Diaz and Brandon White each had 10 points and Zach Thomas had eight points.
John Richbourgh had seven points and 13 rebounds, Cam Reeves and Jared Hamm each had four points and Rueben Molendez and Bladrick Barceno each had three points.
The Elkhart junior varsity team improved to 2-1 with a 44-30 win over Groveton. Cole Bridges had 18 points.
The Elkhart varsity squad will play in the Slocum Tournament this week, starting Thursday.
Grapeland 68, Trinity 57
The Grapeland Sandies improved to 3-0 with a 68-57 win over Trinity Tuesday night.
Demilous Simpson led the way with 16 points and Justin Fletcher had 15 points. Aaron Hatton scored 13 points and Devin Charles had 11 points. Ta'Coyus Walker and Reshard Shephard each had six points.

The Palestine defense got carved up by a future college quarterback and the Wildcat offense couldn't keep up, as PHS fell to Pittsburg here, 51-16.
It's the second straight loss in as many games this season for the Wildcats, but this loss differed greatly from last week's 20-14 defeat at the hands of Brownsboro. -
Running Wild: Allen, Coleman lead Frankston past Westwood
Jamal Allen and Treston Coleman combined for 440 yards rushing to power the Frankston Indians by the Westwood Panthers Friday night, 35-26, in Palestine.
It’s the second straight big week for Allen, who ran for more than 170 yards in a losing effort Zero Week to White Oak.
In that loss, Coleman also added 102 yards and two touchdowns of his own. -
Local Roundup: 'Yuga rolls to 16th straight win
The Cayuga Wildcats continued their dominant start to the 2010 season, rolling past Mt. Enterprise, 39-15, thanks to a huge second half.
The ’Cats only led 18-12 heading into the locker room at the half, but stormed back in the second half to earn a commanding win. -

As the second week (called Week 1, which seems weird in itself. I’m not the only one that thinks this, right?) of Texas high school football comes to a close, I’ve noticed a trend among some of the local squads.
This has nothing to do with play on the field. At least not directly. But, it has everything to do with a single sheet of paper. -
