Oakwood opens with win

Staff Reports

AZLE — The Oakwood Panthers started their season on the right track with a 51-6 win over Dallas Academy Saturday afternoon.

Randall Dunn led the way, scoring three times on only four carries. He started a 25-point first quarter with a 60-yard touchdown run and added scoring runs of 19 and 53 yards. Dunn's final touchdown in the third quarter put an end to the game because of the mercy rule in six-man football. For the game, Dunn rushed for 148 yards.

Eric Ballard was a part of two touchdowns as he rushed for a score and connected with Kealyn Durham for a 36-yard touchdown pass.

Durham also made the big play on defense, returning an interception 32 yards for a touchdown to give Oakwood a 14-0 lead.

James Edwards found the end zone twice with runs of 29 and 6 yards.

The Oakwood defense shut down the Dallas Academy running game, holding the Bulldogs to minus-63 rushing yards and minus-30 total yards.
