Cayuga senior Shawnta Knox was honored for her play during the Ladycats’ state semifinal loss with a place on the Class 1A all-tournament team.
The team, which is picked by members of the Texas Girls’ Coaches Association (TGCA), was released Saturday after the tournament.
Knox had a team-high 22 kills for the Ladycats along with seven digs and three aces.
Cayuga fell to Round Top-Carmine, 3-1, in the semifinal, coming back from 2-0 down to force the fourth game and falling in heartbreaking fashion, 27-25.
The Ladycats were making their third-straight trip to state, with Knox leading the team in kills each time. Cayuga finished the season 33-10.
Jewett-Leon won the state title Saturday, sweeping Water Valley.
Leon junior Thelma Flores was named the tournament MVP, and joined Knox on the all-tournament team along with teammates Morgan Sigford and Brianna Sitton.
Carmine’s Megan and Brittany Hohlt captured the other two spots on the squad.
