Woman wins, donates $10,000 to PHS Project Graduation
When most people win money — especially a large amount like $10,000 — they start figuring out how they are going to spend it.
But when Texas Farm Bureau Insurance agent Toni Rogers won $10,000 during the Palestine High School Project Graduation’s annual “Draw Down” dinner on May 10, Rogers chose to donate it back to Project Graduation. -

The race for the City of Palestine Mayor came down to the wire Saturday with only 39 votes separating the mayoral candidates.
District 5 council member Therrell Thomas and local businessman Timothy Triplett were vying for the city’s top spot as mayor, with the unofficial votes coming in 471 to 432 in Thomas’ favor Saturday night. -
Retail for Refuge: Upscale resale shop benefits safe home program for girls
A new store has opened in downtown Palestine — an upscale resale shop called the Boutique Tree, which benefits Refuge of Light, a non-profit organization dedicated to establishing a long-term safe home for girls under the age of 18 who have been victimized by sex trafficking.

PHS alumni seeking Kickstarter funds for independent short film
An up-and-coming Palestine High School alumni and college graduate who has written and directed more than 10 short films and worked on three feature-length films, is asking for funding support of his new independent short film project. As of today, he has 14 days left to raise pledges of a little less than $2,400 for his Kickstarter crowdfunding platform fundraising effort for the movie.
