A handful of Main Street businesses will be offering a commemorative ornament featuring a historic Palestine train depot circa 1906 this holiday season.
The second annual Main Street Commemorative Ornament goes on sale Dec. 1 and all proceeds benefit Main Street improvements.
“The 2012 ornament features the historic depot circa 1906 that was torn down many years ago,” City of Palestine Main Street Director Laura Westgate said. “We were able to find a lovely drawing of it during its heyday that captures the romance of train travel and the history of our town.
“Ornaments are only offered during the month of December and quantities are limited,” she added. “Our ornament last year was the Anderson County Courthouse and we sold all but a handful within two weeks!
“Each ornament is hand-numbered and placed in a gift box which features the history of the building on the top.”
Ornaments will sell for $10 each and are limited in number.
Sales locations include: Palestine Visitor Center, 825 W. Spring St.; Dicken’s Jewelry, 100 W. Oak St.; O’Sweet Pea, 105 W. Oak St.; Artifacts, 400 N. Queen St. and the Palestine Area Chamber of Commerce, 401 N. Main St.
