PCT to present "The Robin Hood Caper"

PALESTINE — The Palestine Community Theatre will open its comedy, “The Robin Hood Caper,” full of familiar faces on Oct. 19 and will continue its show the last two weekends of October.

“The Robin Hood Caper” written by Fred Carmichael, borrows the old plot, “rob from the rich and give to the poor,” but not even Robin Hood would recognize the hilarious modern slant given to it.

“Director Jim Vincill and his all-star cast will bring this sidesplitting comedy to life on the stage of the Texas Theater later this month,” a PCT news release said.

In “The Robin Hood Caper,” four old reformed criminals meet semi-annually to report to each other on their works within their private club “Charities Anonymous.” Their meeting this season is in the home of Flora Langley’s nephew, a small town newspaper man. It turns out that the nephew, Richard, is about to lose his newspaper because of an article he wrote exposing the town’s grafting mayor.

“The old people, of course, have to get involved in the battle to save both the newspaper and the romance between Richard and his fiancée, Jessica. In the end, the secrets are revealed, love triumphs, and the real bad guys get their proper punishment,” a PCT news release said.

Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 19 at the Texas Theater, 213 W. Crawford St., for the complimentary wine and cheese reception. Sweet Dreams wine will be on tap in the lobby, along with a spread provided by Bon Appetit Coffee & Bakery prior to the show. “The Robin Hood Caper” will begin at 7:30 p.m.

Show dates are Oct. 19-21 and Oct. 26-28. Friday and Saturday performances will be at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday performances will be at 2 p.m.

Tickets are $8 for children (ages 4-18) and $12 for adults. Tickets can be purchased locally at Education Unlimited, Dogwood Diner and the Palestine Area Chamber of Commerce. Tickets also can be purchased online via Outhouse Tickets at www.outhousetickets.com/
