PALESTINE —
The community is invited to help celebrate the retirement of Palestine Fire Department Battalion Chief Victor “Vic” Poff.
Poff gave 37 years of his life to the service of the people in and around Palestine and Anderson County as a professional firefighter and EMT.
He started his career Feb. 2, 1976 as a rookie firefighter and ended his career Feb. 28 of this year with the rank of Battalion Chief.
A come-and-go party will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday at the Montalba Community Center.
“Come by, thank him for his service and wish him well as he ventures into retirement,” a news release said.

Dixon honored
Kimberly Dixon, daughter of Barbara Green of Palestine, has recently been named one of the “Top 50 Black Professionals & Entrepreneurs.”
She attended Elkhart schools and was a member of Mount Moriah Baptist Church in Palestine.
Dixon, M.S., C.N.E., is a Texas licensed real estate professional in Houston, holding a Bachelor’s degree in Business Marketing, a Master’s degree in Human Behavior and Social Science and a Certified Real Estate Negotiation Expert designation.
This enterprising young woman owns and operates a real estate agency and tax preparation office, where she employs and empowers young people from the community.
“As a savvy inner loop real estate professional, Kimberly appreciates the refinement of luxury residential real estate and is well versed in the practicality of town home and condominium sales. She is a multiyear/multi-million dollar real estate producer, and specializes in servicing single family home buyers, investors and developers,” a news release said. “A proud alumnus of Texas Southern University, Kimberly gained remarkable resolve and leadership skills as a starting member of the women’s basketball team. Personally she believes that every individual and professional deposit of integrity is what creates strong and solvent communities.”
Dixon is a member of the National Association of Realtors, the Houston Association of Realtors (HAR), and the National Association of Professional Women (NAPW).
Dixon volunteers time, effort and resources in supporting local and national governmental causes of change and has been a volunteer mentor for at risk youth, with Community Education Partners.
“Over 15 years of sales experience, a team of exceptional vendors and property appraisal and inspection training, are just a few value-adding attributes of this entrepreneurial spirit,” a news release said.
