PALESTINE —
New Behold Church will hold special marriage and singles classes at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 7, facilitated by Alfonzo and Monique Spurlock Sr.
“This is the first class of our new ministry and we plan to have the classes once a month. We need God to have a productive marriage,” Lillian Hollie said. “If you are single, the singles class will help you make decisions on how to pick your mate. The classes will teach you how to have a relationship that honors the Lord.”
The classes will be held at New Behold Church, located at 1000 B E. Palestine Ave.
While the classes will be held monthly, those who need more assistance will be offered it through the ministry.

Newly elected mayor Therrell Thomas took his new position on the Palestine City Council on Monday, being sworn in along with council members Steve Presley, Vernon Denmon and James Yelverton.
Thomas, who most recently held the District 5 seat on the council, defeated opponent Timothy Triplett, 471-432 votes, for the city’s top seat on May 11. -
