Fireworks will light up the sky in Palestine on the Fourth of July during the City of Palestine’s annual firework show Wednesday.
The show will start at dark around 9 p.m. at Story Elementary School’s grounds, located at 5300 N. Loop 256 near the Palestine YMCA.
“If you want to see fireworks on the Fourth of July, this is the way to do it,” Palestine Fire Chief Alan Wilcher said. “It is illegal to possess or fire any fireworks inside the Palestine city limits. It’s better to be safe and see the big show at Story Elementary.”
Tune your radio to KYYK 98.3 to hear music coordinated with the show.
Though the show starts around dark, spectators are encouraged to arrive early to find a place to park. Parking on Loop 256 is prohibited and law enforcement will be patrolling the area.
Fireworks violators will fined and the fireworks will be confiscated, Wilcher said.
“County residents should be reminded that although it is legal to shoot fireworks in the county (outside of the city limits), to please use extreme caution when doing so. Fireworks are dangerous and as dry as it is the possibility of a fire is even greater,” Wilcher said.
A children’s parade will not be held this year.
