Wreck victim identified

PALESTINE — A 81-year-old Palestine woman was killed Tuesday afternoon as a result of injuries sustained in a three-vehicle wreck on U.S. 79 near Neches.

Bonnie W. Poston, 81, of Palestine was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck which occurred around 1:15 p.m. Tuesday on U.S. 79, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

A passenger in one of the involved  vehicles — Deeanna Seymour of Louisville, Ky. — was transported to Palestine Regional Medical Center, but her injuries were not considered life threatening, according to DPS Trooper Lynn Hubert who is investigating the wreck.

Poston was traveling westbound on U.S. 79 in a 2007 Honda Civic when her vehicle drifted into the eastbound lane and first hit the rear axles of a truck tractor operated by 46-year-old Kevin Owen of Murphy before ultimately being struck by a second eastbound vehicle, a 2007 Cadillac operated by 63-year-old Danny Seymour of Louisville, Ky., according to the DPS.

Poston was pronounced dead at the scene by Anderson County Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace Carl Davis.

Hubert said authorities are presently uncertain as to what caused Poston to travel into the opposite lane of traffic.

An autopsy has been ordered to be performed on Poston's body.
