City sponsoring holiday home decorating contest

PALESTINE — Local residents are encouraged to brighten their homes with outdoor holiday lights and decorations for the City of Palestine’s Holiday Home Decorating Contest.

This contest is free to enter and is open to all residents living within the city limits.

Judging will take place on Monday, Dec. 10. The exterior of the home should be illuminated between 6 and 10 p.m. Homes will be judged based on curbside appeal only.  

Homes will be judged in the following categories: “Traditional,” “Down Home Christmas” and “Christmas in Toyland.” First- through third-place will be awarded in each category along with a Mayor’s Choice.

Photos will be taken of all entries. Winners will be contacted by phone Dec. 11 and will receive a  2012 Recognition Yard Sign.

Entry forms must be received no later than 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7. Entry forms are available at the Palestine Civic Center, 1819 W. Spring St. and the Palestine Visitor Information Center at 825 W. Spring St.
