The Palestine Community Theatre will hold auditions Sunday for dancers for its next show, “Ghosts: The Musical.”
The auditions will begin at 2 p.m. at the historic Texas Theater, 213 W. Crawford St.
“Ghosts: The Musical” choreographer Trisha Couch has prepared two combinations to teach dancers at auditions which include: “Forever is the Play,” a lyrical contemporary number that will display dancers’ technical ability, and “Haunted by Love,” which will allow dancers to display their character ability through dance.
According to Couch, both pieces will be challenging but not impossible. Dancers also will have the opportunity to show a two-minute prepared piece of their choice.
Directed by Sandy Hanson, “Ghosts: The Musical” will open during the Dogwood Trails Celebration in March 2013. The musical is about an old theater that is in danger of being torn down because it is in poor condition. The actors and actresses who love this theater — and the actors and actresses who have passed on — “come back” to save the theater.
“This show has been dubbed a ghoulish-haunted, otherworldly, spooktacular, theatrical show,” a PCT news release said. “You will laugh and you will cry.”
Hanson is hopeful that “Ghosts: The Musical” writer Will Jones will make a special trip to Palestine for the opening of the show.
