PALESTINE —
Applications for the third annual Mardi Gras parade, set for 5 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 2 in downtown Palestine, are available now to those who wish to participate in the event.
The parade, themed “Hello America!” is hosted by the Mystics of Time Mardi Gras Krewe, with a route going from the Anderson County Courthouse down Avenue A onto Oak Street before concluding at the Palestine Visitor’s Center.
The public is invited to participate in as well as view the parade, with parade riders and Krewe members planning to toss plenty of trinkets, including beads and candies from the floats.
Bands, car clubs, churches, civic groups, businesses and elected officials are encouraged enter floats in the parade. The deadline to enter is Monday, Jan. 28, with registration forms available in the Herald-Press or by calling 903-731-9102.
Prizes will be awarded for the best community float entry.
For their safety, parade goers are asked not to approach floats but to let the Krewe toss goodies to them.
