NECHES —
The Neches Volunteer Fire Department is hosting a benefit concert featuring the MasterPeace Quartet, a southern gospel music group, at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 12 at the Neches Elementary School auditorium.
Advance tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children under 12 years. There is no admission charge for preschool-age children.
Tickets may be purchased from any member of the sponsoring Neches Volunteer Fire Department or at Van’s Grocery in Neches. Tickets will be slightly higher at the door.
Quartet members include Scott Williams of Rockdale, Jason Miller of Killeen, Glenn Cruey of The Woodlands and Josh Wallace of Temple.
Williams organized The Messenger Quartet in 2001 and released “After I Bow” in 2005. The song debuted at number 46 on the U.S. Gospel Music Top 100. Today, he is the lead voice with the MasterPeace Quartet.
Miller was named to the all-state school choir two consecutive years and is one of the top tenors in Texas. He previously sang with The New Vision Quartet, Southern Harmony and the Messenger Quartet.
Cruey, a native of El Paso who has a double major in music and engineering, plays piano and sings bass. He formed The Gospel Truth quartet in the 1970s, singing bass, playing piano and writing and arranging songs. He became part of the MasterPeace Quartet in 2009.
Wallace grew up on traditional hymns and quartet-style music in Killeen. He has played in groups such as The Messenger Quartet, The Trinity Trio, Bethel Singers and Circle of Faith since he was 17. In addition to singing, Wallace plays bass, rhythm and lead guitar, drums and some piano.
“Our combined years of experience, hard work and dedication and unique vocal blend is sure to create new friendships wherever we go,” Williams said. “We fully intend to present, through our music, the message of our Christ and to offer for your enjoyment songs that are sure to bring tears of joy, laughter and an opportunity for you to be part of our ministry.”
