BULLARD — Area families have one more weekend left to make a trip to Moore Farms in Bullard, where new family traditions can be made by taking a hayride around the fifth-generation farm near the cornfield maze and picking a pumpkin from the farm’s pumpkin patch.
In the front area of the farm, several displays are set up for families — and children especially — to enjoy, including a small animal arena with pigs, chickens, rooster and goats, several photo opportunities for all ages including an antique tractor, old-fashioned well pumps, miniature hay maze, pumpkin-cut-outs, small barns, picnic tables and more.
The farm is reserved for school field trips on weekdays through the end of October and is open to the public for one more weekend from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday.
The farm has been in the Newburn family for more than 93 years. In 1997, Cleve and Lesley Moore stumbled across an idea to “entertain” with agriculture. After a few years of thinking and working with other farms, they decided it was time to put their idea in motion. In 2001, the family opened its farm to the public.
“Our goal is to educate the public about agriculture and farm life as well as market direct to our customers. As we strive to bring you the freshest farm produce and the most exciting farm entertainment, we hope you will feel a part of our family tradition and make your own family traditions,” a Moore Farm news release said.
Admission includes all activities and a pumpkin from the pumpkin patch. Admission is $8 per person for ages 3 and up and free for those 2 and under without a pumpkin.
During inclement weather, call the farm to check for closings.
