Commissioners OK 90-day burn ban in Anderson County

Order effective at 3 p.m. today

PALESTINE — Due to increasingly dry conditions in the county, the Anderson County Commissioners Court approved an order calling a 90-day burn ban during their regular meeting Monday.

The ban, effective from 3 p.m. today (Aug. 13) until 3 p.m. Nov. 12, prohibits outdoor burning in the unincorporated areas of the county. If conditions improve, the order can be lifted at any point.

Those violating the order will be cited by law enforcement.

According to Palestine Fire Chief Alan Wilcher, outdoor burning is never permitted within the city limits.
