Third suspect arrested in burglary investigation
A local woman remained in jail Monday after being arrested last week for her involvement in an ongoing burglary investigation by the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office.

Presley wins fourth term in District 6
Palestine City Council District 6 incumbent Steve Presley was elected to a fourth full term with 74.5 percent of the vote Saturday.
Presley received 152 votes, while local businessman Sam Aryanpur received 52 votes. -

The race for the Palestine mayor came down to the wire Saturday with only 39 votes separating the mayoral candidates.
District 5 council member Therrell Thomas and local businessman Timothy Triplett were vying for the city’s top spot as mayor, with the unofficial votes coming in 471 to 432 in Thomas’ favor Saturday night. -
City approves contract for tax collection
Just as their county-level counterparts, the Palestine City Council approved a resolution to increase delinquent tax collection penalties during their regular meeting on Monday, also agreeing to a contract with the collection firm.

Anderson County commissioners heard a presentation on delinquent property tax collections, approved an increase in collection penalties and agreed to a contract with the collection firm during their regular meeting Monday.
