Artifacts Vintage Finds store opens downtown

PALESTINE — For a creative excursion, Palestine’s newest downtown business, Artifacts Vintage Finds, features vintage flair gifts and antiques  with a variety of items just waiting to be reused and recycled.

Located in two large stores in the Redland’s Historic Inn Building at 400 N. Queen St., the former Mary Jean’s Store from Old Town has transformed the space with eclectic items from the past. The whitewashed rooms and gauze-covered windows offer old images, building store fronts, architectural pieces, Artifacts’ flagship spools and bobbins, and many additional items including a variety of shoe lasts and one-of-a-kind treasures on display for the first time.

“The historic items are just waiting to be revived, restyled or just re-loved, along with new clothing, jewelry and household items,” a news release said.

The specialty favorites such the Magic Scarf shirts, tops and skirt, Greenleaf Botanicals, Canus Goatsmilk Soaps and unusual jewelry have been increased.

“Let your inner Gypsy loose to explore the possibilities. Mix and match to suit your personal style. What can you create by incorporating the best selection of quirky bits, industrial relics, and new ecclectic finds?” said MaryJean Mollard, president.

Bits and pieces of the past offer an opportunity to stay connected to the best of “then and now,” and you will find the past is still in our hands — and it can be used in your living room, patio or bedroom once again.

“By recycling the past, we build a bridge of connection to the values and people we respect, connecting past and present and antiquities carry with them an essence of their time that outlives the restraints of their day and opens up the creative mind of those today,” Mollard said.

Experience Artifacts Inc., a Bohemian bazaar weaving a blend of texture, color, feeling and historical items into contemporary art pieces.

The store is the retail outlet for Artifacts Inc. located at 3120 W. Oak, which is wholesale only and open to dealers. Artifacts Inc. has been serving retail stores nationwide since 1977. Featured items include historic styled shopping bags, lace edged post-it notes, vintage styled and Derby hats marked under the MaryJean Collection label. Hat boxes, authentic old textile spools, print type, shoe lasts and many other relics round out a line which is marked to unique retailers.

“Over the years, many of my friends have found and purchased products in whimsical, interesting stores in faraway places and only to find the Artifacts Palestine, Texas label when they return,” Mollard said.

Store hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday or by appointment. For more information, call 903-731-4434.
