PALESTINE —
The Museum for East Texas Culture 2013 calendars are available for purchase for $10 each at the museum gift shop, located at 400 Micheaux Ave. in Palestine’s Reagan Park.
This year’s calendar, themed “Historic Churches of Anderson County,” features historic Palestine churches, with each month including a collage of photos and brief history on each church.
Featured in the 2013 calendar are: The Pilgrim Church, First United Methodist Church (Elkhart), Antioch Baptist Church, First Christian Church (Palestine), Fields Chapel Methodist Church, Mount Vernon African Methodist Episcopal Church, First Presbyterian Church (Palestine), Harmon Baptist Church, South Union Missionary Baptist Church, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, First United Methodist Church (Palestine), Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church and St. Philip’s Episcopal Church.
The calendar has remained a popular purchase in the community, with sponsors returning year after year to support the Museum for East Texas Culture’s fundraising project, a news release said.

Free adult computer classes offered
“Technology for All” will be offering free adult computer classes from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. every Monday beginning Jan. 14 in the Oakwood ISD Administration Board Room.
The first class being offered is “Basic Computer for Beginners,” followed by “Basic Internet” and “E-mail Basics.”
Other classes being offered in upcoming months are: “MS Word,” “Excel” and “PowerPoint Basic” plus “Digital Photography.” One-on-one proficiency is available upon request. All classes are free.

All Public Computer Centers (PCCs) and computer skills trainings are provided by Technology For All, a partner in the Texas Connects Coalition through a Broadband Technology Opportunities Program (BTOP) grant.
