Lionel Trains makes donation of trains

Anderson County Champions for Children has announced that, through a volunteer, the organization has been presented with three Lionel O-Gauge scale trains to offer in a fundraiser drawing.

Tickets are now on sale for a chance to win one of the trains — which include the Polar Express, Harry Potter’s Hogwarts Express or Thomas the Tank — for $5 each or five tickets for $20.

Ticket purchasers will be allowed to pick the train they wish to win at the time of purchase. Tickets are on sale now through Dec. 12, when the winners will be contacted to make arrangements to pick up their train.

The trains vary in value from $199 to $329. Contact a CFC Board Member or the Champions for Children office by phone at 903-723-5567 or email at ancocfc@embarqmail.com for tickets.

Polar Express train tickets are still available for the 5:15 p.m. rides on Nov. 16, 17 and 18. Contact the office at 903-723-5567. All proceeds benefit Anderson County Champions for Children.

Volunteers needed for Santa’s Workshop

The fifth annual Santa’s Workshop event will open to the public on Friday, Nov. 23, and many volunteers and donations are still needed to make the event a true success.

Workshop organizers are currently in need of volunteers to help decorate the workshop site, located at the corner of Oak and Magnolia streets in downtown Palestine (in the former Silver Lady location).

Elves, gift wrappers, greeters and other volunteer help is needed for the event itself.

Donations of small Christmas trees as well as white and colored Christmas lights are needed as well.

To volunteer or donate for this community event, call 903-724-2625.
