Traffic stop leads to arrest

PALESTINE — A 24-year-old man remained in the Anderson County Jail Tuesday after being found in possession of illegal drugs during an early morning traffic stop in Elkhart on Saturday.

According to Anderson County Sheriff Greg Taylor, deputy Jamie Lester stopped a car — a 2007 Chevy HHP — near Elkhart High School for speeding at about 1:35 a.m. Saturday.

During the stop, Lester got consent to search the vehicle and found three small “tens” or “tabs” of LSD in a tan backpack belonging to the passenger, Charles Anthony Rice, the sheriff said.

The driver was arrested on a misdemeanor traffic offense, while Rice was jailed for possession of a controlled substance-PG1A and remained in jail on a $35,000 bond set by JP Carl Davis.
