PALESTINE —
The Westwood Independent School District's Board of Trustees is expected to discuss the district's 2012-13 budget during Monday's regular monthly meeting.
The meeting is set to begin at 6:30 p.m. at the WISD administrative office at 4524 W. Oak St.
During last month's board meeting, Tricia Wardell, the district's finance director, presented preliminary information relating to next school year's budget, projecting approximately a $1 million deficit. Like most public school districts throughout Texas, Westwood's budget has been strained by reduced funding from the state and other sources.
WISD trustees are presently scheduled to adopt the district's 2012-13 budget and proposed tax rate during a meeting set for Monday, Aug. 20.
In other business Monday, the board is expected to:
* CONSIDER hiring contract personnel.
* CONSIDER hiring, accepting resignations and leave requests of professional and non-professional personnel.
* CONSIDER teacher and principal contracts.
* CONSIDER minutes of June board meeting.
* CONSIDER quarterly investment and June tax collection reports.
* CONSIDER adoption of Policy Update 94.
* CONSIDER Electronic "Acceptable Use" Agreements (Employee and Student).
* CONSIDER giving superintendent "fast track" hiring authority for teachers through Aug. 31.
* CONSIDER Anderson County Appraisal District budget for 2012-13.
* CONSIDER bids for expansion of covering outdoor work area at high school ag shop.
