Pattersons celebrate 58 years
Former Herald-Press press manager Frank Patterson celebrates 58 years with his wife Donna today. The couple was married Jan. 1, 1952 in Eureka Springs, Ark.
On the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary Frank wrote this for his wife and here is an updated version:
“I think it was in 1947,
I went to my favorite place, the skating rink.
When I saw her I asked the owner of the skating rink who she was.
He said, ‘a little girl from the next town.’
It was not long that I was following her around and then we began to date.
In July I enlisted, that was 1948.
She had my ring; I always knew it was the right thing.
I came home in 1951.
There was no question, she was the one.
We married soon in Arkansas, January 1, 1952.
We went back to Europe where we had lots of fun and there we had our first son.
Came home in 1954 and had one more.
Now it has been 58 years.
We have had the best of fun and some tears, but I only hope there will be another 58 years for Donna C. and Me.”
The couple moved to Palestine in 1968 with Frank retiring from the Herald-Press in 1998. They had two sons, Don and David, five grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
