Facklam named new circulation manager
PALESTINE — The new circulation manager for the Palestine Herald-Press is a familiar face to the newspaper office.
Candy Facklam, longtime newspaper independent contractor, was named circulation manager on Oct. 26.
“Candy brings over 14 years of newspaper circulation experience to her job,” said Herald-Press Publisher Gary Connor. “But, what excites me most is her enthusiasm for growing our readership and her passion for service in the circulation department.”
Facklam has been a committed newspaper carrier since 1995.
“I’ve always liked circulation. I feel like this was my calling,” she said. “I’ve always liked to help the customers and communicate with the customers. This (job) is my way of communicating with them.
“I feel like I can give back to them now things that I’ve learned over the years.”
Facklam is fully aware of the challenges facing her in her new position.
“The challenges will be keeping the customers happy and making sure they’re satisfied with their service. Also, making sure everyone gets their paper in a timely manner.”
Since taking over the circulation department last month, Facklam has coordinated new promotions and customer appreciation specials — features that have gained the newspaper about 80 new customers.
“My goal is to increase circulation and to be there for the customer,” she added.
“Candy understands that customer service comes first — that without over the top customer service the newspaper delivery business declines,” Connor said.
“She will bring that level of customer service and the leadership our circulation department needs. Everyone at the Herald Press looks forward to working with Candy.”
Facklam invites customers — new and old — to stop by and say hello and to call her if they have any newspaper delivery issues.
A graduate of Fruitvale High School, Facklam has lived in Anderson County for almost 15 years. She and her husband Wade have two children, Joshua, 17, and Brooklyn, 11.
When not working, Facklam enjoys gardening at her home near Elkhart and helping with the Elkhart Band Boosters, of which she serves as president. She also likes making crafts and spending time with her family.
