PCT to present 'Ghosts the Musical' reveal event Feb. 23

PALESTINE — Have you ever visited the Palestine Community Theatre’s Texas Theater and felt like someone was watching you? If so, you aren’t alone. If the walls of the nearly a century-old Texas Theater could talk, what would they say? That is what ghost hunters all over East Texas want to know.

In recent months, the Texas Theater was investigated by the Sonshine Paranormal Investigators of Fort Worth. Over the course of 2012, the paranormal team investigated multiple locations in Palestine. Group founders Clay and Barbara Henderson were drawn to Palestine’s history and continue to investigate houses, buildings, and businesses in Palestine on a regular basis.

At 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, the PCT will host a “Ghosts” reveal event at the Texas Theater.

PCT members will present songs from past performances before Sonshine Paranormal reveals their findings from their investigation. Sonshine Paranormal will present a video of their investigation of the theater, along with excerpts from other investigations conducted in Palestine.

After the video presentation, guests will get a sneak peak of  the upcoming PCT production, “Ghosts the Musical,” which will come to life on stage this spring.

“‘Ghosts the Musical’ is about an old theater in danger of being torn down because it is in poor condition. Sound familiar? But the actors and actresses who have passed on that once loved the theatre come back to save the theater,” a PCT news release said. “This show has been dubbed a ghoulish-haunted, otherworldly, ‘spooktacular’ theatrical show.”

Tickets for “Ghosts the Musical” will go on sale Saturday, Feb. 23 at the reveal event. The show will open at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 22. Show dates include the following weekends: March 22-24, March 29-30 and April 5-7.

Friday and Saturday performances will start at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday performances will start at 2 p.m.

“We expect this show to sell out so don’t wait until the last minute to purchase tickets,” a PCT news release said. “Tickets will be available at the theatre the night of the reveal.”

If you are interested in taking a tour of the Texas, come early and take a tour with longtime PCT member John Lamb.

Lamb will detail the theater’s history and changes that have been made over the years beginning at 7 p.m. Those in attendance for the tour can go all the way to the third floor and see what once was the projection room of the Texas when it was a Rob & Rowley Theater, see the stage from the balcony and go back stage to see how things work behind the scenes.

“Don’t forget to bring your camera to see if you capture anything strange and unusual while on the tour,” a news release said.

Admission to the “Ghosts” reveal event is free. Refreshments will be available afterwards.
