PALESTINE —
Early voting continues through Tuesday in local city and school board elections.
Election Day is set for Saturday, but local residents can still vote early on Monday and Tuesday.
The City of Palestine has a single race with Will Brule and Ricky Minton squaring off for the District 1 spot.
The Brule-Minton winner will succeed appointed District 1 council member Adam Harding who opted not to seek election to the position.
Early voting in the city race will be held from 8 a.m.-to-5 p.m. Monday and 7 a.m.-to-7 p.m. Tuesday at Palestine City Hall at 504 N. Queen St.
In the Palestine Independent School District, Place 1 incumbent Dyna Tutt meets challenger Mitchell Jordan.
Early voting in the PISD matchup continues from 8 a.m.-to-4 p.m. both Monday and Tuesday at the PISD's administrative offices at 1007 E. Park Ave.
Like the city and PISD, the Westwood Independent School District also has a single contested race this election cycle.
The District 4 race pits incumbent Lisa Gilkey against challenger John Tilley.
Early voting in the WISD race continues from 8 a.m.-to-4 p.m. both Monday and Tuesday at the WISD's administrative offices at 4524 W. Oak St.
As of Friday morning, fewer than 100 ballots total had been cast in the three races.
Fifty-seven persons had voted early in the PISD race, while a single early vote had been cast in the WISD race, according to officials from both schools.
Thirty votes had been cast in the city council race, according to Palestine City Secretary Janelle Williams.
Polls will be open from 7 a.m.-to-7 p.m. Saturday for persons waiting until Election Day to cast their vote.
