PALESTINE —
A 37-year-old Palestine woman remained in the Anderson County Jail Monday following her arrest three days earlier for allegedly possessing less than 1 gram of methamphetamine.
Holly Renee Brown, 37, of Palestine was arrested around 10:50 a.m. Friday during the course of a traffic stop inside the Palestine city limits, according to Anderson County Sheriff Greg Taylor.
The sheriff said Anderson County sheriff's deputies were “working” a residence near the intersection of North Mallard and East Kolstad “that was possibly dealing in narcotics” when they stopped the 30-year-old male driver of a 2011 Dodge Journey for a seatbelt violation.
Brown, who was the vehicle's only other passenger, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance less than 1 gram when officers “found on her person” a small amount of methamphetamine, according to the sheriff.
“It was in a glass pipe that was in her lap when they made the stop,” Taylor said. “It had just a little bit under a gram in it.”
The sheriff said the substance field tested positive for methamphetamine.
“No other contraband was found,” Taylor added.
As of Monday afternoon, Brown remained in jail in lieu of a $20,000 bond set by Anderson County Justice of the Peace Gary Thomas, according to records.
