PALESTINE —
Local doctors, business professionals and elected officials donned aprons and waited tables for the Fourth Annual Celebrity Waiter Dinner on Aug. 16 at Ben E. Keith Community Room.
Proceeds will benefit Susan G. Komen 3-Day for a Cure. Local 3-Day team members include Mary Kay Sartor, Corla Pontello, Kim Ray, Jerry Morris, Charla Higginbotham, Paula Moore, Rebecca Moore, Dr. Brandy Ricard, Amy Lambright, Jan Gardner, Kindra Wortham and Lynn Carlisle.
More than 200 tickets were sold for the Celebrity Waiter event with live music provided by Texas Express.
Dr. Brandy Ricard was once again presented the trophy for “Tops in Tips” raising more than $2,000 for the cause. So far the tally is more than $14,000, which exceeds last year’s total when all of the money from pre-sales and donations were added.
Each 3-Day team member has pledged to raise $2,300 to participate in the 3-Day Walk.
“We are so thankful for all who have contributed merchandise, time, money and support for such a great cause,” a 3-Day team news release said. “Thanks again for another successful event. Together we can help put an end to breast cancer!”
There were T-shirts, hats, pins and other pink ribbon merchandise, drawings and even a chance to have your photo taken with a “celebrity.”
A Kindle Fire was given away in the drawing that night.
There are still tickets being sold to win a 32 inch Emerson HDTV/DVD combo to be drawn at Paint Palestine Pink on Oct. 13. There are plenty of items still available for purchase.
