PALESTINE —
The Palestine City Council is set to evaluate the performance of City Manager Mike Ohrt during Monday's regular meeting.
The meeting is scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at 504 N. Queen St.
A work session will precede the regular meeting, starting at 4:30 p.m. in the City Council Conference Room at the same address.
Ohrt has been Palestine's city manager for the past 17 months since his appointment in February 2011 following the dismissal of former City Manager Dale Brown.
Ohrt, a long-time City of Palestine employee, was first appointed to serve as interim city manager prior to receiving the full-time job. He earned his undergraduate degree in public administration from Washburn (Kan.) University and later gained his masters degree in the same field from Kansas University.
During Monday's meeting, the council is expected to meet in closed session to discuss Ohrt's annual evaluation. The council will later reconvene in regular session to take any action relating to the evaluation.
Some of the other items on Monday's agenda include:
• CONSIDER adoption of an ordinance disannexing territory at the north end of Wall Drive upon request of landowner.
• CONSIDER an ordinance amending Section 46-27 of the Code of Ordinances regarding Sound Amplification Systems allowing certain music to play with city consent.
• CONSIDER an ordinance approving a budget amendment for Fiscal Year 2011-12.
• CONSIDER authorizing the utilities department to replace a 4 ton hoist at the water treatment plant.
• CONSIDER authorizing the utilities department to repair an 88 HP Submersible Flyght Pump for the Southview Lift Station.
