Five Anderson County districts delay start times Wednesday

PALESTINE — Five Anderson County schools delayed classes Wednesday due to “expected weather conditions.”

Classes at Palestine, Elkhart, Slocum, Neches and Frankston school districts were set to start at 10 a.m. Wednesday, according to school officials.

Bus pick-up times were delayed by two hours from the usual time. For example, if a child’s normal bus pick-up time is 6:30 a.m., the pick-up time will be delayed until 8:30 a.m.

According to a press release from Oakwood Independent School District, classes in the district were to resume at the normal time Wednesday.

“We have checked with both of our neighboring districts, Westwood and Buffalo, and they are scheduled to start on time, as well,” a press release from OISD said.

The National Weather Forecast called for a slight chance of flurries after 3 a.m. Wednesday with a low around 30 mph.

Wednesday will be mostly sunny, with a high near 46. Wednesday night will be clear with a low around 31 and west northwest wind around 5 mph.

Temperatures will continue to climb, with Thursday’s high expected to be near 53 and the low around 31.

Friday will be sunny, with a high near 54 and a low around 30.
