PALESTINE —
The Anderson County Commissioners’ Court will consider approval of its proposed 2013 budget and tax rate during a special meeting scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday in the county courtroom of the Anderson County Courthouse Annex, located at 703 N. Mallard St. in Palestine.
The proposed budget includes total revenues of $17,757,051 — just over $330,000 more than the original 2012 budget of $17,426,628.
A notation on the budget states that, “This budget will raise more total property taxes than last year’s budget by $342,322 or 2.7 percent, and of that amount $142, 393 is tax revenue to be raised from new property added to the tax roll this year.”
The budget is supported by a proposed tax rate of .521 per $100 property value, which includes a general fund tax rate of .46596, a debt service tax rate of .03274 and a Farm to Market/Flood Control tax rate of .02230.
In related actions, commissioners are set to discuss the 2013 auditor’s office budget, as well as 2013 court reporters’ salaries before making any necessary changes to and adopting the proposed budget and tax rate.
Others items on Tuesday’s agenda include:
• Consider Budget amendments, bills and utilities crossing county roads.
• Approve Inter-local Agreement for Election Service with Anderson County EA and Neches Independent School District for the Nov. 6 General Election.
