Extension office to host beef and forage meeting Thursday

PALESTINE — The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service office of Anderson County will provide an educational opportunity for beef and forage producers Thursday at the Palestine Mall in the foyer near Bishop’s Brisket House, located at 2000 S. Loop 256.

The meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. Thursday with registration and a meal followed by the program from 6:15 p.m. to about 8:30 p.m. There will be a $10 charge.  

Dr. Jason Banta, Beef Cattle Specialist with Texas A&M AgriLife Extension will discuss supplemental feeding and body condition scoring of cattle. Dr. Vanessa Olson, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service Forage Specialist will discuss Winter Pasture Fertilization and Winter Annual Weed Control.

Pesticide applicators can earn 1.5 continuing education units toward their renewal of their license. The meal will be provided by Eldorado Agricultural Products and Heritage Land Bank.

Producers are asked to pre-register in order to assist with the meal count. To pre-register and for more information contact Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Office Anderson County at 903-723-3735.

    Due to a water main line break, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) has required our water system, City of Elkhart PWS id 0010005, to notify customers of the need to boil their water prior to consumption.

    Steps of Faith Dance Center will hold its annual production at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Palestine Civic Center.
