PALESTINE —
Incumbent Greg Taylor has reported roughly 2 1/2 times the amount of total contributions as challenger Richard Welch in the race for Anderson County sheriff.
Taylor, the incumbent sheriff, faces Welch, a Palestine policeman, in the May 29 Republican Primary.
No Democrats filed to run for sheriff, so this month's victor will begin a four-year term on Jan. 1, 2013.
According to information taken from two reports filed this year, Taylor has reported a total of $14,720 in contributions, compared to $5,323 for Welch.
Taylor, meanwhile, has reported expenditures totaling $8,850.08, while Welch has reported expenditures totaling $7,969.56.
