PALESTINE —
A 43-year-old Palestine man was arrested on drug charges Friday after authorities say they found a small amount of crack cocaine and other drugs inside his residence during the execution of a search warrant.
Jimmy Andrew Davis Jr., 43, of Palestine was charged with the felony offense of possession of a controlled substance less than 1 gram in a drug-free zone and the misdemeanor offense of possession of marijuana under 2 ounces in a drug-free zone, according to Troy Black, chief deputy for the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office.
Around 6 a.m. Friday, Black said sheriff’s Sgt. Gary Wilbanks, sheriff’s Sgt. Lee Duren and representatives of the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office, including members of the agency’s tactical team, executed a search warrant on a residence in the 200 block of Ohio Street inside the Palestine city limits.
Four persons, including Davis, were inside the residence at the time of the execution of the search warrant which was signed by 349th State District Judge Pam Foster Fletcher, the chief deputy stated.
“During the search, the investigators found less than 1 gram of crack cocaine, less than 2 ounces of marijuana, scales and a quantity of packaging materials,” Black said.
Davis, who lives at the residence, was the only person arrested, according to Black.
“The others were questioned and released at the scene,” Black said.
As of late Friday afternoon, Davis remained in the Anderson County Jail awaiting arraignment, according to records.
