Mazzio's benefit set Tuesday for injured deputy

PALESTINE — Local residents are urged to eat at Mazzio's Pizza at 1929 S. Loop 256 Tuesday as the restaurant will donate 20 percent of the day's proceeds to benefit injured Anderson County sheriff's deputy Hunter Lawrence.

Lawrence suffered multiple injuries as a result of a late night wreck on June 2 on U.S. 287, just inside the Palestine city limits.

Anderson County Sheriff Greg Taylor and other representatives of the sheriff's office will serve as wait staff from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday and then again on the same day from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

After spending several weeks in a Tyler hospital following the wreck, Lawrence spent a week in a Houston rehabilitation facility and is scheduled to enter a Tyler rehabilitation facility Monday.
